Calcite

Item Description

A sharp, gemmy, beautiful golden-yellow color scalenohedral crystal of Calcite from Russia. The label given says it's from a place called "Lissaya Gora", and I can't find an actual mine with this name in any database. I don't think the piece is from Dal'negorsk, but I can't find another Russian locality that fits either. I'm going with the given info on the label, but just know that it's more than likely not accurate. The crystal is still very attractive with wonderfully well-formed faces, and it's even doubly-terminated. It's crystallized about 95% of the way around as well, only a small spot where it detached from the matrix on the back/bottom of the crystal.
