Striking, gemmy, lustrous blocky calcite rhombs, to 4.5 cm, are dramatically and aesthetically clustered atop the shale matrix on this rich and showy piece from the 2009 find at this large open pit iron-copper mine complex. The glassy crystals vary from a rich golden-amber to a honey-brown, due to iron oxide content. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. A gently cleaved termination to a central rhomb is barely noticeable and the noted periphery wear are certainly only modest detractions to this excellent and rich 360-degree calcite.
