Item Description
An outstanding, well-preserved, arborescent or coral-shaped, two-sided cluster of light brown, lustrous calcite crystals. The scalenohedrons have sharp terminations, with many of them having a secondary calcite overgrowth, These strikingly, look like cactus heads! Calcites of great variety were saved from the very early days at Bisbee, being recognized for their beauty and variety by the miners, who were allowed to keep them since they had no commercial value. Of course today, Bisbee specimens have a special aura that makes them particularly prized. Essentially pristine, with only out-of-sight basal periphery wear on one end. Classic and very fine material from the Southwest Mine. The very best of this classic Bisbee variety we have offered at auction. It displays very well without aid. Value??
