Classic and colorful large calcite from famed Santa Eulalia. Striking two-stage growth highlights this sculptural and rich large specimen. The tips and an edge of the early scalenohedral phase are coated by red to dark brown iron oxides and are strikingly, mostly overgrown by second generation, yellow to orange, glassy, translucent rhombohedral calcite. A wonderful contrast. Crystals reach 4.3 cm on this rich and showy example. The untinted, colorless calcite on the basal attachment fluoresces orange under SW UV light, as a bonus.
