A RARE old 1990s-style and sculptural large two-generation calcite from this well-known Chinese calcite producing locale. Impresssive large nailhead spar calcite crystals, to 5.0 cm, with striated termination faces are richly included with reddish-gray hematite. Striking 2nd generation lustrous, translucent, tabular, dogtooth crystals with variable hematite-included coloration are richly and dramatically scattered around the fringes of the nailhead prisms. The interior is pristine. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2003. This remarkable large piece bears resemblance to the famous two-stage growth of hematite-tinted calcites from famed Santa Eulalia, Mexico. BUT, this Chinese piece is MUCH rarer and the calcite crystal forms are slightly different. Old material.
