Item Description
Sculptural, rich two-sided, two generation calcite with unusual form and color from this famous extinct underground uranium mine, closed since 1982. The aesthetically intergrown lustrous, translucent, rhombs have an interesting cloudy khaki color with frosted/etched faces. The striking triangular rhomb on the upper left is 2.4 cm. The variably colored hematite inclusions and coatings add much pizzazz and color. Smaller calcites surround the sculptural piece and the matrix is greenstone. Tiny secondary calcite scalenohedrons on the fringe of the front cover much of the back of this impressive piece. The front is pristine. A RARE and desirable 2-generation calcite varietal from this noted locale. Valued by the former dealer at $350.
