Item Description

A striking, large, 12.9 cm, two-toned, doubly terminated calcite crystal is beautifully posed on the sculptural matrix covered with an earlier generation of smaller calcite scalenohedrons. The complete all-around crystal is glassy, lustrous and is transparent to translucent. The many stepped-growth faces add character. The impressive large crystal is nearly pristine, with only a gently bruised termination. Certainly only a modest detraction. This is an excellent large calcite from this famous Chinese arsenic deposit. See the 2007 Mineralogical Record article in the China-II, Special Issue, Vol. 38, No. 1. Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection, a well-known German collector who amassed a world-wide collection of over 6000 pieces.
