Item Description

A classic Alpine Calcite specimen from the Ankogel west slope, the Gastein Valley in Austria. This is the first Calcite specimen we've ever had to offer from this locale. This piece features good quality, fairly sharp, well-formed, semi-lustrous, silvery-white rhombic crystals with a silky interior measuring up to 2.3 cm, which are sitting on a sculptural ridge of a previous generation of flattened rhombic Calcite which in turn was coated by grey-green colored Clinochlore ("Chlorite"), creating a very showy and three-dimensional display specimen. The majority of the Calcites are damage free, but there are some minor contacts, so the piece is not 100% damage free. Very attractive and excellent quality in terms of crystal form and overal visual appeal. The piece comes with a nice hand-written label from Professor Johann Zenz of Gloggnitz, Austria.
