Item Description
Here we have a beautiful, stout, gemmy, rich amber Calcite crystal, free of matrix, found in 2009 at this large open pit iron-copper mine complex. The rather gemmy interior and pleasing color, along with the notably well-formed euhedral faces make for a great overall specimen. These caused quite a stir at the 2009 Munich Show and the 2010 Tucson Show. Good quality, though there are a couple separation marks on the lower portion where the piece was connected to other Calcites when. China has produced an outstanding myriad of calcite shapes, forms and colors and this a good representative piece from this find. Note that the locality long given is suspect, and many of us think they actually came from a working coal mine near Chongching in Sichuan Province
