Item Description
This specimen dates back to 2002, and is one of the few of this particular style that we've had to offer from the Shuikoushan Mine. A sculputral group of fine quality, very sharp, vitreous, modified rhombic crystals with a white/colorless hue measuring up to 2.7 cm are intergrown to create this showy and eye-catching cabinet-sized display specimen. There is a slight greenish hue that can be seen on the underside of the piece, possibly from some kind of Pyroxene inclusions (Diopside or similar). My favorite aspect of the piece the subtle morphological details that can be seen upon close inspection, where the traditional rhombic shape of the crystals show slight modifications, giving each crystal either an additional face here or there, or just a slight change in the overall shape of the crystal to create some beautiful forms. No major damage, perhaps just a tiny bit of imperfections here and there, and the piece is crystallized on the back, with almost no matrix to speak of. It's not a complete "floater", but it's close and a really choice specimen from a locality that is seldom producing material these days.
Ex Brian Kosnar collection.
