Item Description
Attractive and unusual Russian piece showing sharp geometrically shaped Calcites against a contrasting matrix from a very uncommon Russian location. The well formed hexagonal Calcite crystals are translucent with cloudy-white frosted exterior and are capped with a opaque white flat termination. They consist of crystals up to 1.7 cm long and as wide as 9 mm. The Calcites are further zoned by the light gray band that divides the main part of the crystal from the termination. The Calcites are in excellent condition with the majority of them protected by the vug they formed in. A lovely Calcite specimen from the Khibiny Massif, Murmansk that you just don't see on the market. Strong orange fluorescence. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl Collection. Old material from an unusual locality as Russian minerals first came out to the European market long ago.
