Item Description

This is a gorgeous rosette-style Calcite piece from Tsumeb of an unusual style. It features a cluster of at least a dozen relatively large, glistening, translucent, disk-like crystals in an almost rosette-like aggregate. The almost pearlescent Calcites range in size from 1 to 4 cm across and all of them display honey-tan, translucent to transparent interior with an off-white, translucent rim for great contrast and aesthetics which is enhanced by the sparkling, pearlescent luster of the crystals. The relatively thick disks have a slight curvature to them. The Calcites rest on a flesh-orange matrix that appears to be casts after a pre-existing mineral such as Dolomite or an earlier generation of Calcite. Nicely composed with great presentation and no damage, unusual.
