Item Description
This is an attractive specimen Calcite specimen from Santa Eulalia featuring notably sharp, well-formed, excellent scalenohedral crystals of a gentle golden-yellow hue measuring up to 5.2 cm, sitting on dozens of smaller Calcites with a slight iron-oxide coating, on matrix. The two largest Calcite crystals are doubly-terminated. I can see a TINY bit of edge wear on one of the terminations of the largest Calcite, but otherwise, they seem to be damage-free. An interesting historical note, mindat.org mentions on the locality entry for this mine that, "The San Antonio Mine was the first economic tin mine in North America".
