Item Description

An eye-catching intergrown grouping of sharp, well-formed, translucent white Calcites with large flattened blades standing on edge. The longest blade measuring 9.5 cm across. This large cabinet sized Dalnegorsk Calcite has an uncommon crystal shape and form for the locale. The razor thin crystal edges are dramatic, and nearly pristine (they do have some visible nicking with a few smaller crystal cleaves that would be expected for a Calcite of this size). Overall, a very showy piece with a highly dramatic presentation from the glory years of production here in the 1990s and early 2000s. When backlit, the Calcite blades just glow and are highlighted by wispy almost 'veining' internal growth features throughout the crystals. It also has a vivid orange fluorescence. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
