Item Description

A rare locality specimen of calcite from a famous Tourmaline mine: from the Kay Robertson collection. The Himalaya Mine, famous for its Tourmalines, has also produced other fine mineral specimens. Calcite is uncommon there, and this distinctive cluster is composed of highly flattened rhombs with a lacy texture that is reflective of very delicate layering and etching. The arrangement of crystals is attractive, as is the moderate fluorescence. A fine piece for a California or Calcite collector! Kay purchased this in 1985 from collector Mark Rogers (also a Californian).

This specimen is donated in memory of Kay Robertson and is part of the 2023 Dallas Mineral Collecting Symposium benefit auction, with proceeds benefiting Mineralogical Record, Rocks & Minerals, Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, and mindat.org. Thanks to all of our participants!
