Item Description

Highly unusual crystal habits on the impressive and sculptural large mounded and pristine 360-degree multi-generational calcite from the well-known mines of the West Camp at famed Santa Eulalia. Most of the striking mound is composed of very glassy, translucent, tan, triangular calcite rhombohedrons, to 3.3 cm. The 'skirts' at the base are smaller, lighter colored rhrombs. Much of the piece, mostly the top, is preferentially peppered with tiny white third-generation calcites, that look like snowflakes! Very modest fluorescence. Thanks to Mexico and Santa Eulalia specialist Dr. Peter Megaw for narrowing the piece to the West Camp. Older material from the Dick Heck Collection. Certainly a unique style large crystallized calcite from the West Camp. Valued at $500.
