Item Description
Cafarsite is an ultra rare, hydrated complex arsenite and this is an exceptional two-piece set of different habits, from the famous Type Locality. Lustrous, sharp, sub-metallic, brown/black, modified cuboctahedrons cover the miniature. The imposing large crystal is 1.4 cm across. Specimens of this richness and crystal sharpness are uncommon. However, it is the good luster and sharp uncracked faces that set them above many others. The exquisite, 1.2 cm, pristine, highly modified single crystal is a super compliment. These are superb examples of species, with large and very lustrous crystals compared to most. Cafarsite was not recognized until 1966. Just a superb pair! Valued at $1200-1500. Old collection material.
