Item Description

This Piedmont region of Italy, right at the Swiss border, has produced fine alpine minerals for hundreds of years. This matrix cafarsite specimen is no exception. Cafarsite is an ultra rare, hydrated arsenite. Two, chocolate colored, lustrous modified octahedrons are aesthetically perched on matrix. The largest crystal measures right at 1.0 cm across. This is an outstanding example of species, with large and very lustrous crystals compared to most. Cafarsite was not recognized until 1966. Just superb! Valued at $500
