Item Description
These exceptional, razor-sharp, Cadmian Smithsonite rhombohedra are perched beautifully on matrix. The light, golden-yellow Smithsonites (rare among the species) have very good luster, classic curved habit, and they range up to 2.3 cm tip-to-tip. The crystals are actually quite gemmy, and the half-dozen major Smithsonites retain their individuality very nicely. The aesthetics of this piece are superb simply for the color and the quality of the crystals, but it is simply also a great example of this rare cadmium-colored variety. The gemminess can be appreciated even better in person. Formerly in the collection of Keith Proctor. Valued $2000-2500 for the sharp quality and gemminess.
