Item Description
Polk County, Arkansas is probably best known for its phosphate minerals, especially the bright golden specimens of Cacoxenite and associated phosphates like Kidwellite, Beraunite, Dufrenite, etc. This mall cabinet sized specimen features yellow radiating groups of Cacoxenite along with beautiful green Kidwellite plus reddish brown Beraunite, dark grey Dufrenite and nearly black Goethite. I even found a couple of tiny lavender radiating groups of Strengite under the microscope as well! VERY hard to find on the market today, and certainly worth picking up if you collect phosphate minerals. From the collection of Wouter Van Tichelen, but more importantly, it comes with a label from Albert Lewis Kidwell, a mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas and the namesake for Kidwellite! How cool to have a handwritten label of a piece of Kidwellite from Kidwell himself.
