Item Description
These striking and beautiful, V-twinned, butterfly calcites are certainly amongst the most famous single calcite finds of the modern era in China, and came out around 2000. They were very expensive at that time, still are, and disappeared quickly from the market. A fabulous, 3.0 cm from tip to tip, gem, thick, V-twin is the stunning focal point of this aesthetic and excellent specimen. The matrix plate is richly covered with scintillating, jewel-like, colorless spikes of variable sizes. Very nearly pristine, the stunning V-twin has only one very gently cleaved termination. The base has been sawed to enhance the very considerable display quality. Specimens of this quality only come from recycled advanced collections. Contemporary, but instantly classic material. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. Ex Steve Smale Collection by exchange. Valued at $1000-1250. A super GEM calcite.
