Item Description

This is an attractive gem of the unique "Bumble Bee" Jasper from Indonesia. From what I have researched, these stones are only found in Indonesia, and the rough is mined near an active volcano. I would like to point out that this material is actually not Jasper, and according to a few online sources, it's actually a carbonate (likely Calcite or Aragonite). The yellow color is actually caused by Realgar inclusions. This "Marquise Cabochon" cut stone shows beautiful golden yellow zones set between dark brown-black banding. A lovely gem of this uncommon material. Great patterning and size!
