Item Description

Collectible spherical fluorite is EXTREMELY RARE worldwide. Mahodari, India and Minggang, Henan Province, China come to mind. Add a locality to the list with a BRAND NEW, 2011 find from Inner Mongolia, China. Our Chinese sources have just shipped us a small lot of this striking and unusual material. We call these "bugeye" fluorites for their isolated, bulbous shape. The four discrete, lustrous and translucent fluorites, to 2.4 cm, are actually composed of sharp, intergrown, pretty sea-green octahedrons with scattered complimentary, purple octos. The "bugeyes" jauntily rest on the undulating field of nubby quartz crystals over a matrix core of arsenopyrite. The three primary balls are pristine. Bruising and periphery wear are noted. Irregardless, this is a striking and very fine example of this combination material from a NEW find in a VERY uncommon Chinese locality. This piece displays well without aid. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!!
