Item Description
Brucite has been known since the 1820s, when it was named in honor of American mineralogist, Archibald Bruce, who first described it. This fairly well-known magnesium hydroxide species has been found in many world localities, but often in more subtle / subdued colors. A few years ago, intense yellow colored Brucites were found at Killa Saifullah in Balochistan, Pakistan which are some of the most attractive examples of the species ever seen. There is no other world locality that has produced such amazing yellow color. This specimen features attractive, lustrous, translucent, rich yellow colored groups of Brucite free of matrix. The fantastic color combined with the internal gemminess and wonderful radial form makes the piece highly desirable and eye-catching. Although there were many of these pieces on the market a few years ago, there seems to be less of them out there recently. Typically these kind of discoveries produce a limited number of pieces so don't miss out on picking up one if you want one.
