Item Description

Brucite from the famous Wood's Chrome Mine is an early U.S. classic mineral species, with fine specimens produced from the 1830s to the mine closing in 1881. Very sharp, translucent, typically bladed and disc-like crystals to 2.0 cm of this rarely crystallized species cover the massive chromite ore. A possible 1870 collecting date is noted on the old label attached to the back. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued at $750-1000.
