Brookite with Quartz (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Here we have a classic matrix display specimen of the famous Brookite crystals from Magnet Cove, Arkansas. Unlike other Brookite crystals from around the world, which are typically very thin and tabular, the Magnet Cove pieces are a notably thick, blocky habit. This small cabinet / large miniature features a few very sharp, lustrous, well-formed, (orthorhombic) crystals of black Brookite measuring up to 5 mm across which are associated with Quartz on matrix. There are few rough spots on the Brookites, but they are fairly good condition up close. The luster and sharpness of the crystals is really what counts here. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6485). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
