Item Description
A rare, fine, gem crystal of Brookite, with Quartz, from the Type Locality (often confused with the local geographic location of Tremadoc as seen on some labels). The luster and gemminess of this 5 mm Brookite really allows the bright, cinnamon-red color to shine. From the impressive and expansive collection of Dr. Robert J. Lauf, this is a PUBLISHED and Type Locality specimen, both of which are of particular interest to collectors. Ex. James Tennant (circa 1860s-1900 but the label notes this came to the museum later in 1937) and The British Museum, with note card, signed book, and any old labels included. This is a HUGE rarity for the species.
