Brookite on Quartz (classic material)

Item Description

Here we have a classic old specimen of the distinctive and famous crystals of Brookite from Magnet Cove, Arkansas. These Brookites have a notable thickness (most Brookite crystals are wafer thin) and dark color which distinguishes them from other localities. This miniature sized specimen hosts several sharp, well-formed, pseudo-octahedral (orthorhombic) crystals of Brookite measuring up to 9 mm sitting aesthetically on dark grey colored Quartz crystal matrix. No real damage that I can find with the naked eye.
From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974.
