Item Description

Brookite is not often found in fine crystallized display specimens, and typically the crystals are not terribly large. Some of the most attractive examples of the species are the beautiful little crystals from the European Alps. Despite their beauty, most of these crystals measure in mm, so they are not easy to see with the naked eye. This piece is from an "Alpine-type" discovery circa 2003-2004 in Balochistan, Pakistan which has been the source of some of the best Brookite crystals ever found. This piece is an almost razor-thin, very good sized crystal with sharp, lustrous faces and a deep reddish-bronze color with a slightly darker central black "phantom". The termination is in fine condition, though there is narrow nick on one edge, so the piece is not 100% pristine. It's still larger than most Brookites you'll see from almost anywhere else in the world, and a great representation of these beautiful crystals, that will go down as classics for the size, quality and color.
