Brochantite with Atacamite (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

Item Description

A beautiful association specimen from the Potrerillos area in the Atacama Desert of Chile (either from the Potrerillos Mine or Vieja Mine) featuring gorgeous acicular "tufts" of rich emerald green Brochantite which are associated with dark green thin crystals of Atacamite sprinkled though. There is a very small amount of oxidized matrix on the reverse side of the piece. The crystals look fantastic under magnification, and we have photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. Hard to find on the market and just a beautiful representation of the material. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
