Item Description

Bright emerald-green radial tufts of gemmy Brochantite needles richly fill two vugs on the sculptural layered small cabinet gossan matrix. Clusters of tny reddish-brown Heterogenite botyroids (rare Cobalt oxide) amidst the Brochantite tufts are a typical accessory and nice contrast. This showy piece is from the obscure Kabolela Mine of the famous Copper Crescent of DR Congo. Cobalt and copper mining ceased in the 1950s. But in 2002 artisan miners opened a single 30 cm vug hosting the Brochantite specimens. Rich, highly representative combination material of the species from the singular find.
