Brochantite (RARE locality specimen)

When it comes to minerals from Oklahoma, most people don't think about secondary copper species. I was honestly very surprised when this piece came to us, as I had never seen one before, but they are unquestionably legitimate. This specimen comes from a lesser known copper/silver deposit in central Oklahoma, very near the town of Paoli. It features attractive, semi-spherical groups of rich green Brochantite sitting atop reddish-brown Early Permian sandstone matrix. The Brochantite looks best under magnification, and we've photographed the piece with a macro lens to better illustrate the quality. Outside of a few places near Paoli, there is only one other place in Oklahoma where Brochantite has been reported, and they are virtually impossible to find on the market today.
