Item Description
This is a fine example of the rare and highly sought after Brochantites from the famous Tsumeb Mine. I've only seen a handful of these specimens over the years, and this one stands out as one of the better matrix examples I've handled. I can honestly say that I have only had a few of these over the years, and they are obviously not very common from this prolific locality. Any Tsumeb completionist should JUMP on the change to add a piece like this to their Tsumeb suite. Beautiful, brilliant, chatoyant, rich emerald green acicular crystals have formed into "tuft"-like aggregates sitting on matrix. The largest complete group of Brochantite measures up to about 5 mm. A very hard to find piece of this uncommon copper sulfide from this beloved locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6711). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A hard to find display piece of this uncommon material from Tsumeb.
