Item Description

Showy and rich large combination material from this less well-known extinct underground copper mine - the Douglas Hill Mine. Scintillating clusters of emerald-green and dark forest-green Brochantite crystals are nicely complemented by rich fields of green botryoidal Pseudomalachite. The sculptural matrix plate is massive granular garnet. Specimens of this quality were collected in the 1980s to mid-1990s, when the stope collapsed. The two labels with the piece indicate Cornwallite, which is isostructural with Pseudomalachite. MINDAT does not list Cornwallite for the mine and also lists Chrysocolla and Malachite. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. An excellent and uncommon large combination example of the species and locale.
