Brochantite on Chrysocolla

Item Description

A beautiful combo specimen of secondary copper minerals from the now defunct Douglas Hill Mine in Nevada. Specimens were collected in the 1980s to mid-1990s, when the stope collapsed, and are now few and far between on the market these days. This piece hosts deep emerald green, lustrous crystals of Brochantite which are sitting on a highly vitreous layer of blue-green Chrysocolla, with a bit of underlain deep green chatoyant Malachite, on a thin plate of matrix. The Brochantites look nice under magnification, and we've done our best to illustrate their quality in the close-up photos.
Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
