Item Description
The January, 2012 finds of brochantite from Milpillas, already famous for superb Azurite and Malachite specimens, are considered the best of species. The fine, sharp, bladed, deep green crystals of Brochantite here have superb luster, and are highlighted by nice striations and sharp, chisel-point terminations. The largest crystal measures 8 mm, and despite a few contacts here and there, the piece is in good condition overall. The luster and deep color really stands out here. The smelter is now converting to sulfide ore soon, indicating the oxide zone is about mined out. No more superb Azurites, Malachites and Brochantites will be forthcoming.
