Brochantite (fine classic material)

Item Description

Typically Brochantite is an emerald green hue, or even a blue-green color, but the pieces from the Ludwig area in Nevada are notably dark, almost a black hue, which reminds me more of a Atacamite to be honest. This piece is from the Douglas Hill Mine and is a great old classic example featuring lustrous, rich black-green colored aggregates with a slightly velvety luster measuring to a couple mm, sitting on oxidized sandstone matrix. If you look closely, you can see a bit of glowing green colored botryoidal Malachite (or possibly Pseudomalachite) underneath the Brochantite groups.
