Item Description

A wonderful specimen dating back to the mid 1960's from the Grandview Mine which existed in the Grand Canyon. The mine is long defunct, but when specimens were being recovered, they were some of the most incredible, and brightly colored specimens from Arizona, or anywhere else for that matter. This specimen is filled with small acicular emerald green Brochantite crystals along with minor light blue Chalcoalumite. The piece is best seen under magnification and we've photographed it with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate its quality. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
