Item Description

From the collection of noted East Coast mineral collector, Robert C. Linck, here we have a great old time specimen from the Horn Silver Mine in Utah. The specimen originally belonged to Robert B. Gage (label included), for whom the Franklin species Gageite (which he was the first to analyze) was named in his honor. After his death, Gage's collection was purchased by Robert Linck and Robert B. Hesse, and split between them. Eventually New York mineral dealer, John Betts sold Linck's collection. This piece dates dates back to September 1907 according to the label, and is a great representation of the material. Sparkling, deep forest green crystals of Brochantite cover the underlying host rock matrix. Under high magnification, the crystals are beautiful. Hard to find in today's market, and certainly valuable just for the Gage label alone.
