Item Description
A classic specimen of the Brewsterite Subgroup (possibly Brewsterite-(Sr)) from Strontian, Scotland, featuring attractive off-white colored monoclinic crystals measuring to about4 mm on matrix. Brewsterite is a rare zeolite mineral named after the Scottish physicist, Sir David Brewster, and without a doubt, some of the most well-known specimens are those from Strontian, which is the type locality for the species. If you look on mindat.org, Brewsterite-(Sr) is only reported from about 10 localities in the world, making it a very rare zeolite.
From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-186779.html
