Item Description
A great old time specimen of brilliant gemmy yellow-green Brazilianite from Corrego Frio (the type locality for the species). This is certainly and older specimen not only because of the acccompanying labels, but the fact that it has that old-time classic color, luster and gemminess that is NOT often seen in today's Brazilianite. The crystal is not only sharp and extremely well-formed, but has WATER-CLEAR zones internally that would be suitable for faceting gemstones. The piece is partially coated by golden semi-metallic Muscovite for a great two-tone appearance. Hard to photograph, but BETTER in person, minor contact in the back. It's not common to find Brazilianite crystals that measure nearly 2 inches from any Brazilianite these days, you typically only find them in old collections. This piece comes with a label from the collection of Robert M. Rich and an inventory label from Bentley's Minerals of Windor, CT. Originally labeled as "Divino", but certainly from Corrego Frio. Valued at $1500.
