Item Description
Here we have a wonderful, classic, sharp, lustrous, bright yellow-green color Brazilianite crystal from the famous Conselheiro Pena pegmatite district in Brazil. It almost GLOWS with internal fire when backlit, and looks beautiful when displayed. Brazilianite is one of the more readily cleavable gem minerals, and unfortunately this piece is cleaved on the front edge and the back side, but there are still several superb, glassy faces that can be seen on the piece. A really attractive example of this beloved material that bears the name of the country in which it was first discovered. Specimen weight is 20.4 grams. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
