Item Description
Braunite is a complex manganese oxide-silicate and although occurring at numerous worldwide localities, the mines in the Kalahari Manganese Fields have produced the best of species, and this piece is a great example! In fact, good crystals of the species were unknown until finds in the KMF in the 1980's. This excellent toenail cluster is composed of a plethora of 1 to 3.5mm, blocky, gray-black, submetallic crystals of Braunite and the matrix is also largely composed of Braunite with some cleavable massive Calcite and reddish micro Andradite Garnet. In great condition! Valued at $500.
