Item Description

Bournonite is a classic and desirable species from this famous old mining district, and this is a very fine and showy combination example. A jauntily set, 3.1 cm, lustrous, metallic-gray "cogwheel" with light iridescence is the centerpiece. A dense carpet of sphalerite crystals covers the limestone matrix and there are scattered smaller bournonites on the edges. One side of the large cogwheel is lightly bruised, but is only a modest detraction. Choice and desirable older combination material (at least several decades old) from the Bob Trimingham Collection. valued $500-750
