Item Description
A showy and fine, old-time, two-sided combination specimen from Baia Sprie. Splendent, sharp, metallic-gray, bournonite cogwheels to 1.0 cm are richly and aethetically scattered on the quartz crystal vug on the top of the piece. The bottom features a 4.2 cm vug lined with tan siderite rhombs and a few quartz points. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and comes with an old Wilhelm Maucher label. Wilhelm was in charge of the mineral repository at the Freiberg Mining Academy and published the FIRST major investigation on Tsumeb minerals. He became a full-time mineral dealer in Munich in 1908, until his death in 1930. His son, Herbert and his sister took over the business, with the label name change coming in 1936. This piece dates to before World War II.
