superb Bournonite, Quartz, Freibergite, and Bornite

When these specimens first came out, they were instantly regarded as some of the best, if not the best, Bournonites found in the Western Hemisphere. Comparable to the great English specimens from Herodsfoot, Cornwall, England, this classic "cog-wheel" Bournonite is 2.3 cm with an ideal steel-grey color and an exemplary metallic luster. Associated are 2.4 cm Quartz crystals which bring balance this large, small-cabinet specimen. Adding to the interest and aesthetics are bluish Bornites and a field of micro-Freibergites at the base of the Bournonite. Superb aesthetics. With the chance that there may not be any more of these specimens for a long time, if ever, a piece of this sheer quality is a significant find. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. When you see this on the natural shard of matrix, you will be very tempted to trim it into a STUNNING miniature, with focus on the bournonite - very tempting, normally, but the quartz is sparkly and it is so beautiful as a perch for the bournonite, we could not decide to trim or not.
