Item Description
A choice small cabinet combination specimen from the historic mines of Zacatecas. Bournonites are always a highly-desired species, and these crystals are in three clusters, with the largest crystal being 1.3 cm. Some Bournonites are hoppered, and you can tell there is some of the famous 'cogwheel' habit to these crystals. Interestingly, the Bournonites have a fine microcoating to them, which creates a super-fine, almost sandpaper-like texture to the surfaces. Most unusual, and not unattractive. The Bournonites sit on a complete, edge to edge layer of highly lustrous pyrite crystals. As bright and shiny as these Pyrites are in the pics, they are even more so in person. Bournonites of high quality are uncommon from Zacatecas, and this piece has both aesthetics and interest to it on several levels. It is, for a Mexican bournonite, exceptional. Also, it is simply sparkly and pretty. Specimens like this, with specialists in Mexican material, are always priced over $1000
