Item Description
One of the better specimens of Bournonite that I have offered from Bolivia in the auctions for a while. This piece is an attractive, sharp, thick, semi lustrous, metallic, silvery-grey color, blocky crystal with some minor attached matrix and micro Pyrite. Certainly a good quality and well-formed crystal for the locality, and a worthwhile thumbnail from Machacamarca. This specimen is from a find in 2005 in Bolivia, with the exception of a few tiny rough spots, is in GREAT shape overall from the standpoint of damage. Comparatively, the Bolivian Bournonites are priced significantly lower than their contemporary Chinese counterparts, and a piece like this from Machacamarca is very difficult to find. On a worldwide scale, well-crystallized Bournonites like this are hard to find, and good pieces from Bolivia are becoming less common on the market.
