Item Description

A striking, very fine "cogwheel" specimen of bournonite from Bolivia. This pristine floater piece is an attractive, sharp, thick, tabular, metallic, moderately lustrous, "cogwheel"-shaped crystal group. This rare, outstanding old-time specimen is from an unknown mine, of several in this district. It certainly looks like classic Herodsfoot material, but is thicker. Definitely not from the more recent finds at the Machacamarca Mine which are of a different style. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection
