Item Description
From a discovery in early 2020, here we have the latest offering from the Machacamarca Mine. This beautiful miniature features the attractive and rarely seen "cogwheel" habit Bournonite. This is one of the few that we've had to offer in the auctions for a while, but this new find yielded some attractive specimens. This piece features several good quality, metallic, stainless steel grey color, "cogwheel"-shaped crystals measuring up to 6 mm across sitting on black Sphalerite matrix. There are some contacts on the piece but a few of the crystals are in good shape. The "cogwheel" habit (which is actually a twinning habit) is the most highly sought after form for Bournonite around the world, but there are not many places where good specimens are found these days. A nice example of this classic material from one of the better known modern localities in Bolivia.
